Joint Replacement Services
The Novato Community Hospital Joint Replacement Program provides patients with an integrated team of healthcare providers who provide a full range of services -- from pre-operative education to outpatient physical therapy.
Before Surgery
You and your physician will decided when it's the right time for your surgery.
For some, physical therapy is recommended first to increase strength and prepare you to adjust more quickly to your new joint.
The Physical Therapy and Sports Fitness program, located in Terra Linda and Novato, works hand-in-hand with your surgeon to make sure you're prepared for the best possible outcome.
Once your procedure is scheduled, our surgery department will enroll you in a pre-operative class where you will learn how to get ready for your stay with us and learn what to expect as you move through the recovery process with our inpatient team.
We'll also answer your questions, so can feel confident and assured about your recovery path.
Surgery
Our surgeries are conducted in our modern operating rooms specially equipped for minimally invasive surgeries.
Our surgeons use the latest minimally invasive surgical techniques that promote faster recoveries because of smaller incisions, less blood loss, less pain after surgery and fewer complications.
Recovery
Joint replacement patients spend just a few days recovering in our medical surgical unit. Our facility is designed with your recovery in mind -- spacious rooms, balconies, and beautiful northern Marin views.
Our nurses and physical therapists understand the special needs of joint replacement patients and work closely with your physician to manage your pain and get you on your feet as quickly as possible.
Whether you are discharged directly to your home or a rehabilitation facility, a physical therapist will make sure you know how to maneuver out of bed and use any special equipment you'll need. They also train family members and in-home caregivers to assist you.
Once your rehab or in-home therapy is complete, you'll be ready for outpatient physical therapy, where you'll have an individual plan for getting you back to your regular activity.
