How can I get a full text copy of an article?
- Find the article in PubMed using the PubMed link customized with Sutter's Full-text icon.
If NCH have an online subscription to the title, you will see a
"Sutter Health Online Full Text" icon displayed on the abstract display results view. Clicking on the icon will take you to the full text of the article if you’re on the hospital network. - For an article from the New England Journal of Medicine: use the NEJM icon displayed on the abstract display results view or visit the NEJM site directly.
- Remote Access NCH physicians can ask the Health Sciences Library for an id/pw to access the Sutter Full-text articles from home/office. Call Kathy Kimber at 600-3240 or email us at cpmclib@sutterhealth.org.
- No Icon? If you do not see the Sutter Health Online Full Text Icon, you can contact Kathy Kimber at 600-3240 or email the Health Sciences Library at cpmclib@sutterhealth.org and ask for help with obtaining a reprint of the article.

How do I find information on a topic?
- Try UpToDate for current summaries on the topic.
- Use PubMed to find references on the topic.
- If the topic is on a malignancy, try the Nat’l Cancer Institute’s database at http://www.cancer.gov/cancer_information/
- Research Help Ask the Reference Staff at the Library to do a literature search for you. You can call the CPMC Library at 600-3240 or email cpmclib@sutterhealth.org.

Can I get access to UpToDate, or Ovid from my office or home?
- UpToDate is only available per our license from within our campus network. NCH physicians can ask the Library for an id/pw to access Ovid from home/office. Call us at 600-3240 or email us at cpmclib@sutterhealth.org.

What are the tips for searching PubMed?
PubMed comprises more than 19 million citations for biomedical articles from MEDLINE and life science journals. Citations may include links to full-text articles from PubMed Central or publisher web sites.
